Dear St. Anthony Bridges to Home Friends:
We sincerely value those who have volunteered to assist St. Anthony Bridges to Home for over 9 years in the many areas available. We thank our regular volunteers for making your service a high priority. But with over 250 people on this mailing list, when the same familiar faces answer our calls for volunteers, it causes me to wonder why 80% of you are not. You very kindly accepted our invitation to be added to the mailing list, and I hope you are all receiving the blog I prepare especially for you.
So this is what studies show about why people volunteer:
--to make a difference in others’ lives;
--to support an organization, community, or cause;
--to learn something new;
--to develop personally or professionally;
--to feel better about themselves; and
--to meet people.
Let’s flip the coin now and see what studies say about why people don’t volunteer:
--they feel like they don’t measure up to other volunteers;
-- no one asked them to get involved;
--excuses like ‘I’m too busy’, ‘They don’t need me’, ‘Someone else will come forward.’”
--the “social risk” people feel when joining a new group
--people don’t clearly understand what they are being asked to do
Does any of this resonate with you? Do you fit into any or all of these categories? Honestly, I do. Well, have I got an opportunity for you! St. Anthony Bridges to Home can fulfill each one of these desires and dispel each of the doubts.
--working with this organization gives you the power, through the Holy Spirit,to change peoples’ lives forever, and to fulfill the organization’s motto: “Making a Difference One Move at a Time.”
--I guarantee you will learn new and impressive ways to repair, move, and set up furniture and household items in a home as well as to pack and tie down a trailer expertly, and many other things too.
--and you will unquestionably develop personally and feel better about yourself in deeper, meaningful ways that will change YOUR life.
--you will meet the most inspiring, most humble, most giving and joyful people I have ever had the pleasure and privilege of working with, people just like you.
If you have ever moved a household in your life, you qualify. The people who form the move teams each week are just like you: busy, thinking they were not needed this time, or that someone else would do a better job. But they continue to volunteer. We need you too and the very specific, very special talents that God has given only to you. Think of what you could teach us!
Consider this YOUR personal invitation. Enter into it slowly, one non-obligating step at a time. Call or email me to ask me what this organization is about, how you can help-believe me, the list is lengthy. Call or email me with concerns or suggestions or just to acknowledge that you got this. I am happy to talk with you with no pressure or sales pitch.
The teams are really working hard to try to catch up with the great number of referrals we are receiving. Since the last blog, 10 moves have been completed: Aaron, an Army ranger who survived 4 tours in Afghanistan and his wife & 4 daughters was done on 5/6; Richard, a Navy pilot on an aircraft carrier, and Jesse, also a veteran, were done on 5/13; veterans DeMaris, Donald, Frank, & Barbara were all done on 5/22; Selina and her son, & Miracle and her children were done on 6/3, and Sharon and her 2 daughters was done on 6/10/23.
Please enjoy pictures from these moves in the gallery below:
I humbly thank God for all of you who continue to walk in faith by financially supporting the mission: Thelma, the Coronado family, Pat K., Pat F., Pam, Bill & Carol, Max & Marilyn, Ann, Jerry, Kathy N., Jenny, Barbara M., Bob M., Catherine, and an anonymous donor.
We are grateful for each participant in this ministry and pray for God's blessings on you as we continue this journey that Our Lord has placed us on and to the Holy Spirit who gives us guidance.
The next 6 moves are scheduled so please read the email for details. I look forward to seeing you there!
Mary
