Have you given thought to a deeper purpose for St. Anthony Bridges to Home than aiming to be a positive solution to the problem of homelessness? I posit that it is to live intentionally in the teachings of Jesus Christ. He is the Truth from whom we receive His teachings and words, and we are called to convey His teachings not only by our words but by our actions as well. The key elements behind Bridges to Home are to model serving, to model giving, to model inclusion, to model spreading the Word, and most importantly, to model love for our fellow human beings. We often get lost in the vast amount of work it takes to operate this organization, but the end product is willingly and freely doing the work of God on this earth as He desires.
This is called Christocentricity, which is defined as Christ-centeredness; the quality of making the person, attributes, and redemptive work of Christ the principal focus of a system of thought or a way of life. Lives are changed for better or worse by our good example and by our ill-advised behavior. When I watch my grandkids mimic my behavior, sometimes I am proud and other times I cringe to think that is what I model to them. We can model the character of Christ by the faith we show in our obedience to His Word.
Please enjoy the gallery of photos that tell the story of many of the moves we have completed in past weeks.
There are many ways you can contribute to the ministry. One very special way occurred very recently. As many of you know, our main form of transportation is a 2002 Chevy Suburban that was in need of tires due to the mileage we drive every Saturday. We are very grateful to Robert who assisted us in purchasing 4 new tires at a very generous price. Thank you Robert! Our ride is definitely smoother and safer, and we can travel many more miles carrying out the mission of Bridges to Home thanks to you. Several people generously blessed the ministry with financial donations needed to continue our mission. Thank you to Kathy & Bob, Pat K., Olivia and family, Christine M., Pam, Catie, Cari & Mike, Max & Marilyn, Viad & Ben, Christine F, Barbara M., DeeAnn, Pat F., and Upland Foothill Kiwanis.
