I hope the great passion and determination with which this ministry is operated is apparent in all we do. We truly believe in fulfilling our mission statement: “ to be active participants and a vital part of the solution to the issue of homelessness in the broader community”. We endeavor to live out this mission every day preparing for the moves and every Saturday loading, unloading, arranging and sharing our love for those crying out to us in their need.
Passion and determination will take you farther than you can imagine. This move represents 384 successfully completed moves, and with the referrals currently in the queue, we are quickly inching toward the #400 mark. Who would have thought? Anyone who knew Dale would agree he never doubted that we could reach this milestone. Looking back over the last 9 years, we reached this point taking one step at a time and completing one move at a time. The majority have been absolutely delightful moves; some have been challenging; some have been unpleasant, if I am being honest. But in each case, we went in and did what we know we are called to do as the hands and feet of Christ. We are certain that the Holy Spirit selects each referral to this program for a specific purpose with both the client and those serving in the ministry in mind. We both fill a need in each other and so we are paired together for a special, usually unknow to us, reason.
Crystal is a Navy veteran and single Mom, who is living in a very cute back house in Ontario with her 14-year-old daughter Summer. The pictures in the gallery show just how astonished and pleased Crystal is that you stepped up for her. The move team of Al, Ron, Donna, Ria, Rob, Angela, Antonio, and David worked quickly to load and unload before the rains came. We also appreciate Paul from Holy Name of Jesus parish joining us as an observer on this move. And we did it. It started raining a bit while we were working there, but the major downpour started while we were snacking in the storage unit at Cable Airport. Please enjoy the pictures and experience the move captured for your pleasure.
The passion and compassion for the ministry is greatly exhibited in all of the donors. Several of you donated the furniture that blessed Crystal and Summer’s home. The “before” pictures show how empty the house was until we left 2 hours later. The financial donors made it possible to buy the bed and coffee maker and other vital items not held in our inventory. Thank you so much to Kathy N., Jenny, Barbara M., and Pam for sharing your treasure with Crystal and Summer. Thanks also to Charlie who donated the BBQ, which was nearly new; Crystal was over the top excited to start cooking on it.
I read this quote not too long ago:“The transcendent potential of most people is still waiting to be realized and this awakens a sense of compassion that takes us out of ourselves. This Christ-centered love is a relationship based on Christ as the center.”
You have shown this Christ-centeredness by opening your hearts and hands in the love of Christ. You have been a conduit from God to Crystal and her daughter because you can, but more importantly because you are called to share what you have been given with all of our sisters and brothers on God’s earth.
“All the gifts and all the talents we possess come from God. How we use them in faith and gratitude defines our stewardship.”
We thank you, most loving and generous Creator, for the abundance you have bestowed on us, your servant people. May we use your gifts to build your kingdom, to help those in need, and to bring light to a world in darkness. Bless the people in our lives that we may help each other grow in your love. We pray in union with Jesus Crist and the Holy Spirit. Amen
Please read the email for the next 3 moves scheduled. Your help in all areas is needed and appreciated.
