Dear Bridges to Home Ministry Friends:
"Freedom To Do Good" sounds a little strange when you think about it, but doing good is definitely a choice. It is not something everyone does. God draws us toward good, but he does not force us to do good. Our free will allows that to be our choice. The choices we make—including the attitude with which we make those choices—are a big part of how we learn and grow and thrive in relationship with others and with God in this journey called life. For instance, we can choose to get out of bed 30 minutes early to read our Bible, or we can choose to hit the snooze button and enjoy that last half hour in bed. Both are good choices, each with its own benefits. Whether for good or bad, consequences follow as a natural result of the choices we make. The choice is yours to make.
Any doubt about why we work so hard to maintain this ministry--why we give up days during the week to pick up furniture and mattresses, why we get up early Saturday morning and spend half of the day moving furniture for perfect strangers, why we donate our own personal funds to buy needed items for Bridges clients, and the list goes on--was intensely disbursed these last 2 weekends. There are not words to describe the emotions exhibited by and affection felt for the veterans we assisted. Robbie served in the Army and was extremely humble and grateful to the team for all of their work. His disabilty limited his abilty to help, but did not limit his appreciation in any way. Kevin also served in the Army, as a communications specialist. His emotions were through the roof and he shed many tears over every aspect of the move. He even made a video for his Mom & Dad so they could experience the move with him. Please scroll through the picture gallery below to see the experience for yourself. The first few pictures are a look at behind the scenes happenings that most people don't see.
I encourage anyone who can to join us on a move. You meet the nicest people and the experience is like no other you have ever had. You are completely lost in the person you are assisting and they are generally in complete awe that this is even happening to them. You make new friends and share special moments that will not be forgotten.
The reality of these moves was made possible by funds donated by the Ontario Elks Lodge #1419, by Barbara M. and by 2 very generous anonymous donors. We wish you many treasures stored in Heaven. “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Please see the details in the email about the 2 moves we have scheduled for next Saturday, October 26th. Your help is greatly needed for the 2 referrals received fromt he Loma Linda Veterans' Administration.
May happiness, peace, and prosperity be with each of you as we continue this journey we are on.
Mary
