I have often written about the courage, compassion, and commitment exhibited by all of you who support St. Anthony Bridges to Home. I have, however, neglected to verbalize what we feel when we are doing the moves and meet the people we serve. The courage and determination they exhibit is laudable as they overcome adversity and tackle the obstacles that face them in leaving the life of homelessness and starting the journey anew. They rise and do what is necessary to manage the challenges one at a time. You have accompanied them through hard challenges and great triumphs by your support. You offer prayer for the ministry, provide financial support, donate in-kind gift of furniture and household items, work on the move teams, and celebrate the success of each move.
God’s Providence is ever present in this ministry. He does the heavy lifting and invites us to accompany Him by participating where we are called to bring His mercy to people who are struggling. The people we serve were homeless, but that is not who they are. They are military veterans who had successful careers, they are single Moms and Dads doing their best to raise their children in a world that has not always been kind, they are seniors, and everyday folks like you and me. Their faith and perseverance is to be applauded. I can truthfully say knowing each of them has changed my life for the better. They have taught me the power of humility and respect and unconditional love as they forge onward on a path of hope.
We are all certainly gifts to this ministry, but it did not take long for me to learn that this ministry is God’s gift to all of us. Please keep the faith in our mission as we build a vibrant and energetic program filled with hope and dreams.
Making a difference occurs in many ways, one of them being financing the moves. Gratitude is a word I use a lot for all of your partnership, and I use it again for all those who supported Juan and Tony’s striving to start again. Pam, Max & Marilyn, Barbara, Linda, Jenny, and an anonymous donor were the financial energy behind these two moves. I thank you on their behalf.
Thank you for allowing me the privilege to serve with all of you. Please see the email for the next moves that are scheduled.
