Dear Bridges to Home Ministry Friends:
My warmest greetings to all of you! It seems important of late, with all of the controversy and chaos that surrounds us, to focus on the one thing that will sustain us through each day. Would you recognize Jesus if He came to your door today or to your place of work or if He stood next to you in the line at the grocery store? It would be ideal to be able to say yes to that question, but do we usually look for Him in any of these places. And yet He is there. We expect to find Jesus in church, or at a retreat or a Bible study. The truth is that He is present in everyone, everywhere and in everything. The Holy Spirit uses His supernatural power to open our eyes to the omnipresence of Jesus, and gives us the ability to see Jesus in everyone and in every part of creation. This ministry is a perfect opportunity to see Jesus in each other and in the many people whose lives we are fortunate to enter simply, but no coincidentally, by receiving a referral from a case manager.
Over the last 6 weeks, faithful volunteers have journeyed to Redlands, Palm Springs, San Bernardino, and Rancho Cucamonga to serve Nathan, Julie, Antonio, James, Vicki, and Curtis. Margaret at March ARB only required the delivery of a futonto her doorstep. All of these veterans were served with respect and honor, acknowledging Christ's presence in them. Each of them was appreciative and grateful for the many household items, furniture, boxes of food, and grocery gift cards presented to them by those representing this ministry. Please view the gallery of pictures below by clicking on the arrow on the right side of the pictures.
So many of you are faithful supporters who continue to contribute your time, talent, and treasure to allow the moves to happen. Thank you to Viad & Ben, Charlie, Linda H., Pat F., Barbara M., Donna K., Carol & Bill, Mary O., Denise, Sharon, and an anonymous donor. Grateful thanks to those of you who made donations to Bridges to Home in lieu of flowers at the passing of my Mom. My heart is deeply grateful to all of you. Thank you to all who have invested your time to form the many teams that have worked tirelessly over the last 6 weeks to fulfill the requests of the referrals we are receiving from the Veterans' Administration. With each member of the ministry doing their part, we carry onward knowing we further the work of the Lord in His vineyard on earth.
We cannot perceive where God is leading us, but we have certainty that His path is to be followed. Therefore, we rise each day with gratitude for another day and with a "yes" on our lips, seeking Him in every encounter. As the day progresses, we acknowledge the blessings bestowed thus far this day, and continue on with our "yes" to Him. Finally, as night falls, we concede the day to Him with hearts beholden to His mercy and pray for faithfulness and openness as tomorrow dawns. Ask Jesus for the gift to see with eyes of faith so that we live forever in His light and love and share His distinct outpouring of grace on all we meet.
In Christ alone,
Mary
