Dear St. Anthony Bridges to Home Friends:
Christian singer Michael Tait sings a beautiful song about commitment amidst times of trouble. Its title is Stand. In the song he asks:
Who will I be when trouble comes callin' for me?
Will I live the way I believe when I'm backed up against the wall?
What kind of heart do I have in my chest? Does it beat for my Savior or just for my flesh?
What will I do in the moment that everything falls?
We have all experienced suffering and hardship and can empathize with the people we are blessed to help every week. Life is so difficult and we are tempted to follow the worldly culture, giving up hope and believing God is nowhere to be found. But the alternative is ultimately the solution.
I'm gonna stand in a world that's breaking; stand for a truth unchanging;
I'm not ashamed, I've considered the cost; I'll stand right here at the foot of the Cross, and stand.
Stand up because You deserve all of me; I won't give up, I won't give in…
They can call me a fool or stubborn for following You; for trusting without any proof.
But I've seen You here through it all. So what kind of person do I wanna be?
Am I committed to You or committed to me? What will I choose the second that everything falls?
I'm gonna stand in a world that's breaking; stand for a truth unchangin'.
I'm not ashamed, I've considered the cost; I'll stand right here at the foot of the Cross, and stand.
There is power in the simple gesture of standing. It declares a definite decision and sends a message of courage and commitment to stand against the culture that seeks to divide rather than unify. Christians cannot remain silent about social issues that ostracize people. We are all God’s children and heirs to His kingdom. So live in the action of our faith and stand for “ what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable.” Philippians 4:8
By your support of St. Anthony Bridges to Home you are standing for a truth that believes in the marginalized, that believes in being nonjudgmental and in second chances for Stepheny, Eugene, Nyingi, Shilo, Denisha, James, Edward, Tassandra, and Alfred. These are the last 9 moves completed between June 20-July 8th. You stood for them and stood by them and against those who rejected them because they were on the sidelines.
