Dear Bridges to Home Ministry Friends:
Each member of the Body of Christ has been blessed with specific God-given talents. God knows exactly why he gave you those talents and how those talents fit into his perfect plan. When we use the talents in accordance with his will, they benefit the entire Body of Christ. When we do not use the talents as we are guided to, the Body of Christ is adversely affected. A simple example to illustrate this- one of the functions of the hand belonging to our human body is to take food to the mouth, which benefits the entire body. Without this specific motion by the hand, the entire body suffers because it depends on the hand to fulfill this purpose. It is just so with our talents. The Body of Christ is depending on you to use them in accordance with the will of God. Daily prayer for the vision to recognize our talents and for guidance to use them as God desires will result in clarity of purpose and resolve that we all are indispensable members in the Body of Christ.
Terry proudly served in the Marines and quietly spoke to us about how difficult life has been for him since he got out many years ago. But things are changing for him in rapid succession now. He eagerly answered the door to his apartment in San Bernardino when we arrived on November 2nd. He was extremely happy to see blankets and pillows being brought in because his heater has been broken and the nights are cold. However, not as cold as they were when he was out on the streets. As the team continued to unload and work to decorate his apartment, he kept repeating that his cheeks were going to break because he is smiling more than he has in many years.
Anthony served in the Army for 8 years. He was deployed twice and planned to make the Army his career but his wife became ill and now needs a transplant. They and their 2 sons experienced very hard times due to Kira's medical issues. She is now very weak and needs a wheel chair to get around. They ask for our prayers that her transplant can take place soon.
Please scroll through the pictures to get a snapshot view of what took place during both of these moves.
The work Sharon's team does pulling the needed items from the storage units and shopping for items not available in the storage units or that have to be purchased new are a vital piece of a successful move. But without financial support, items could not be purchased, gas could not be pumped into the Suburban, and grocery gift cards for each move would be non-existent. Thank you to Jenny & Andy, Susan & DJ, Barbara M., Mary O., and Pam for donating funds to make Terry's and Anthony's moves a reality.
Because of the number of referrals we are receiving from the Veterans' Administration, we have scheduled 2 moves for next Saturday, November 16th. We would like to assist the veterans before the Thanksgiving holiday, and with your assistance it will be possible. We need you to volunteer to join the move team so the moves can be fully staffed and completed efficiently and successfully. Please see the email for details.
Thank you, Father, for creating us and giving us to each other in this human family and through the Body of Christ. Thank you for being with us in all our joys and sorrows. Thank you for yesterday, today, tomorrow, and the whole of our lives. May we live this and every day conscious of all that you are and always will be. Amen
Mary
