PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS
Compassionate God, You speak your word to us through prophets of long ago and you continue to reveal your message of love today. With great expectation we look to your Spirit to work in our world, empowering us to serve you as Jesus did.
May we listen for your word and respond generously to your call. Renew in us the grace of our baptism. Strengthen married couples, single men and women, deacons, priests, sisters and brothers as they seek to serve you by sharing their love and compassion.
Grant wisdom to those who are discerning their call. With gratitude we proclaim the Good News of Jesus in the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
WHERE IS GOD CALLING YOU TO SERVE?
In building a community of faith and making the Kingdom of God happen today, here and now, is the main call and responsibility of each every person who has been baptized.
As followers of Christ, we are all called to minister to each other and to those we come into contact daily.
Finding priests, deacons, and religious who will help lead the followers and share their talents in a different way is also the responsibility of each baptized person
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
Pray…you can PRAY!
Pray that God will show you the way and help you understand the vocation He chooses for you.
You can think of people who may have a vocation to the priesthood or religious life and pray that God intervenes and shows them the Way.
You can say something to the person and plant the seeds for them to begin to consider this life.
QUALITIES IN THE PERSON
The individual must have a bond, a relationship with God and be willing to nurture it openly, faithfully, and want to join in the openness of lay ministry.
There needs to be openness to all men, women, children, ethnic diversity, and a true concern for the poor.
And, as importantly as above, a true, refined commitment to the Church’s moral and dogmatic teaching and a respect for Church life.
