In the Gospel of John Chapter 6 we read the story of Jesus feeding the crowd of 5,000. “Jesus turned to Phillip and asked “Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?” He asked this to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do.”
This story parallels the founding of St. Anthony Bridges to Home. Jesus turned to Dale and asked “Who will help all of these, my people in need?” Anyone who knew Dale would never doubt his readiness to respond to Jesus and enter fully into the mission of this ministry. In the story, a boy gave what he had, loaves and fishes, to Jesus to feed the crowd. Jesus took them, gave thanks, and worked a miracle to satisfy the crowd.
“His disciples couldn’t see past the obstacle to know what Jesus had in mind.” Like the disciples, it is easy for us to see the vast need in our world and say “What difference can I make for so many in need?” What God wants of us, as He wanted from those in the gospel passage, is that we bring what we have-ourselves, our gifts, our skills, our time, our treasure. Through Bridges to Home people bring what they have to God and He works miracles with each and every move. The astounding work of God has been accomplished for the past 9 years resulting in 370 moves, and hundreds of adults and children being “fed.” Thank you for joining us and for bringing what you uniquely can offer to do the work of God in His vineyard on earth.
Seven moves have been completed since the last blog. Please enmesh yourselves in the moves through the pictures.
The moves depicted in these pictures are made possible by not only the dynamic teams of people working behind the scenes every week and on Saturday, but by our generous donors. The impact you make is apparent in the pictures, but even more so when the move teams receive the hugs and the tears and the disbelief and the extreme gratitude of those we serve. I invite each of you to join us on the moves so that you can feel the powerful impact your donations make for people in real life situations. Thank you Barbara M., Max & Marilyn, Mary O., Jenny, Cynthia, Pat F., Pam, and an anonymous donor. Your generosity is greatly appreciated!
Please bring what you have to offer for the next moves detailed in the email. You are needed, in whatever capacity you can offer: donating funds to support the moves, assisting with arranging for and implementing the moves, being a prayer warrior for the ministry, staying alert to offers of furniture or household items that might be available to repurpose. Thank you for all you offer to St. Anthony Bridges to Home. God will take it and work miracles with it.
